Kevin K. Lanphear, DO

Dr. Kevin Lanphear grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island and then attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine before medical school at Kirskville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Post-graduate residency training was done at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California as well as the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. As a naval flight surgeon he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida with deployments to Rota, Spain and Sigonella, Italy. Upon getting married, he and his wife decided to return to his New England roots and moved to Newburyport to join the practice with Dr. Andy Longley and Dr. Larry Kimball in 1986.

Dr. Lanphear is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the Massachusetts Osteopathic Society. He is the past President of the Whittier Independent Practice Association and the Lower Merrimack Valley Physicians Hospital Organization. Dr. Lanphear is presently the Chairman of the Newburyport Local Chapter of the Steward Health Care Network and member of the board. He was recognized as the Community Clinician of the Year in 2012 by the Essex North District Medical Society and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Clinical Interests: Acute child and adult care as well as osteopathic manipulation and Health Information Technology.

Personal Interests: Enjoys outdoor activities and especially spending time with his wife, two children, and pets.

Fun Fact: Dr. Lanphear used to be a flight surgeon in the United States Navy. As a member of the “Mad Foxes” he was able to fly a helicopter solo & provide medical care for the squadron. See more fun facts.
