When you think of healthy holidays, what are some that come to mind? Definitely not Thanksgiving. Probably not Christmas. Halloween has too much candy. Maybe Arbor Day? That’s a great guess, but what we were going for is St. Patrick’s Day! I know what you’re thinking – isn’t St. Patrick’s Day usually celebrated with corned beef and cabbage and copious amounts of green beer? Well, sometimes…but it doesn’t have to be! Hear me out.
St. Patrick’s Day in the United States is typically celebrated with lots of green. Here’s where the healthy aspect starts to come in! So many healthy foods are green. St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect way to mix healthy eating with being festive! Here’s a few green options we highly recommend trying:
Finally, end your day with a green grain free pizza! Making your own pizza sauce can make this an even healthier option by reducing (or eliminating) the sugars from the recipe. As for the toppings – that’s something we’ll leave up to you.
Follow that up with some cucumber and feta rolls for lunch. Cucumbers are a great low calorie, low carb hunger quencher while fat-free feta tastes like a treat. It’s important not to completely deprive yourself of all fun things (for us, that means cheese) when dieting. You just have to moderate your treats in a smart, health-conscious way.

Start your day with a healthy green drink! Try this pear and arugula smoothie for breakfast to be as chipper as a leprechaun. The pear will create a natural sweetness while the arugula adds in the green veggie twist. If food and drink don’t sound like the most fun way to celebrate, there are plenty of local dance and music options!
