With winter in full swing, now is the perfect time to put on your best snow boots, bundle up, and head outside for some active, winter fun! We can’t think of any better way to do that than by climbing up some of the best hills in town on a sunny Saturday afternoon and zooming down on your Sno Surfer.
So, what are the best sledding hills in Newburyport? Lucky for you, we did exhaustive research and compiled a list of the top 3 –
Number 3:
The Mall
This hill is conveniently located in the center of town! But be careful, it is located around a pond, so make sure to slide down this hill after the pond has frozen over. For double the fun, bring your skates and practice some figure skating or join in a game of pond hockey! The Mall is always a great place to meet in the winter to get some exercise and see some friends.
Number 2:
Maudslay State Park
This is another great option for sledding, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. There are plenty of smaller hills and trails to test race your friends on all sorts of terrain. We particularly like the hills where Theatre in the Open performs. If you don’t know what we’re talking about – set out on a (short) hiking adventure and find out for yourself (hint: go left)!
Number 1:
March’s Hill
This famous sledding spot is our favorite option. It’s free, right on the Rail Trail, and so much fun! Oh – and did we mention it’s got some of the biggest hills? This recently remodled park is a great spot to grab a sled and get some speed while still being close to downtown. After a full day on the hill, you might want to walk into town for some Coca. Be sure to slide down this hill at least once this winter!
