Now that you have a plan to be more active and have those allergies we discussed under control, it is time to get out and have some fun!
We understand that after a long winter and lots of holiday eating getting motivated to move can be tough. For those who are not use to working out on a daily basis, gyms may not seem that appealing. That is why we have highlighted some local attractions and activities to get you motivated.
There are local gems among us and beautiful trails to spend the day hiking and relaxing. The Clipper City Rail Trail is over 1-mile long. This can get you moving! Utilize the trail as a family by walking, biking, or rollerblading while spending a beautiful day outside.
If you would prefer a waterfront view, the Waterfront Park is a great destination for a day trip. There are many events planned such as the Riverfront Music Festival and various Yankee Homecoming activities. Be sure to check local calendars for new events throughout the month. There are many sports activities, music and brewing festivals, fundraisers, and fun for all ages.
In the case that you have done enough hiking and moving for the month and would like a relaxing evening, you can make you way to Theater in the Open. Their original productions have won local awards and produced national talents such as Joe Keery who currently stars in the Netflix original series Stranger Things.
Families can enjoy many outings and activities in Newburyport. Something that is within our town’s range, that many people do not have access to, are Autism and Sensory-friendly environments. These areas offer smaller crowds as well as dimmed lighting. If you are in need of a sanctuary like this try Cinemagic or the Discovery Museum which offer sensory friendly programs. We also have access to many beautiful playgrounds to keep your children safe and active.
Once they have exhausted themselves from the playgrounds be sure to find local restaurants. Whether you would like a family dinner or date night for two, Newburyport has amazing restaurants. Our historic town offers amazing food that is local. Supporting local restaurants is important because they support local produce. This means that you are eating fresh and in season! The town also has a loyalty program which raises money for local non-profits in the area. It cannot get any better.
As the weather gets warmer we hope that you will take advantage of all of the local actives that Newburyport has to offer. Go explore and try new dishes. Remember to stay safe, bring your helmets, and sunscreen. Summer is just around the corner!
